The Boys and Girls Club offers a variety of fun and practical activities for kids of all ages and interests.

SMART Kids

For Ages 6-9. The primary goal of SMART Kids is to provide children with the knowledge, skills and self-esteem to help them avoid risky behaviors and situations, including involvement of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

Street SMART

For Ages 10 & Up. The Program consists of three modules: Gang Awareness and Resistance, Conflict Resolution and positive Peer Helpers. Each Module consists of 9 lessons. Gang Awareness helps participants develop awareness about gangs and build resistance skills with each week’s lesson. Conflict Resolution helps members develop a greater awareness of conflict and build skills for conflict resolution. Positive Peer Helpers helps adolescent Club members develop and enhance their leadership and communication skills. It also teaches them the importance of service and positive peer leadership.

A World of Difference

This program is divided into two levels for ages 6-9 and 10-12. Youth will develop an understanding and appreciation of themselves as unique individuals. They will develop an awareness of the role that culture plays in their daily and in the lives of others. They will develop a common vocabulary to discuss prejudice and discrimination. Learn skills to recognize and confront biased behavior in themselves and others and develop and understanding of their roles in creating fair and inclusive environments.

Netsmartz

An Internet safety program that supports young people’s sense of competence and safety on the Internet through teaching about dangers on the Internet and how to avoid them. Other goals of the program are to create a fun, interactive learning environment and to encourage youth to tell a trusted adult, Club Professional, volunteer, parent or guardian when they encouter something online that makes them upset or uncomfortable. The Program is divided into three levels: Clicky’s Web World for 6-7 year-olds, NetSmartz for 8-12 year-olds and 1-360 for 13 to 18 year-olds.

Skill Tech

Introduces computers to members through hands-on and interactive theme based activities. The activities are designed to promote social interaction and to avoid members becoming isolated through their us of computers.

Web Tech

Inspires members to create Web pages that reflect their personalities, dreams and career choices. They learn how to plan their own Web site and incorporate elements of color, balance, space, texture, layout and multimedia effects such as music, sound and Flash files.

Program combines art and animation to provide a wonderful way for Club members to express themselves. Club members explore the elements of art including color, value, line, shape, patterns and texture.

Manipulation of digital phoos is just the beginning of what Club mmembers enjoy when using this program. Doscovering the world of digital photography first, they begin to expriment with picture composition.
